3 brothers get life for murder in Rajshahi

A trial court has convicted three brothers and sentenced them to life imprisonment in a sensational murder case.

Judge of the Special Tribunal-2 Jahangir Alam Mollah handed down the verdict on Mukim, Masud and Mahbul, who remains at large since the killing of Abdur Razzaque.

The convicts were also fined Tk 5,000 each. They will have to suffer one year more in jail if they fail to pay.

According to the prosecution, the convicts armed with lethal weapons stabbed indiscriminately their neighbour Abdur Razzaque while he was working in his mango garden at his village at Bagha on March 26, 2000.

The victim succumbed to his injuries on way to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Previous enmity over land dispute was mentioned to be the reason behind the murder, said the prosecution.

Special Public Prosecutor Mahbubul Islam appeared for the state while Advocate Jahangir Alam Selim depended the accused.
