Mohammad Yousuf netted the all-important goal for the home side in the 53rd minute when the young striker produced an angular left-foot shot from the top of the box after receiving a pass from Guinean midfielder Saifoullaye Camara.

It was Yousuf's second goal in the meet after his success in the first game against Sheikh Russel in Dhaka where they lost the match by 2-1 but asserted the message to the giants that they are to make an impression.

Chittagong Mohammedan success in their second game maintained the home side's supremacy in the first-ever professional league.

The shocking defeat saw star-studded Muktijoddha remain at one point after their goalless draw in the league opener against Dhaka Abahani while Chittagong Mohammedan have three points from two games.

In the day's match, the local side started cautiously with a defensive strategy but they also missed few chances in the first-half. Rashed carried a ball from the midfield and cracked a powerful shot, but alert Muktijoddha custodian Titumir gripped it comfortably.

On the other hand, Muktijoddha missed their first attempt in the 18th minute when Saifur Rahman fired after receiving the ball from Alfaz Ahmed but Titu's diving attempt salvaged the home team.

Experienced midfielder Matiur Munna then got a good chance to level the score in the 68th minute but he failed to tap the ball in an open net.
