Art competition for children at Mymensingh

Marking the Independence Day, a painting competition for children was held at the Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (Art Gallery) premises on March 26. A total of 280 children including differently-abled ones from several educational institutions participated in three groups. Some 20 students from the Community Center for Handicapped (CCH) and Mymensingh Deaf and Dumb School also took part in the competition, according to art gallery sources. Mymensingh District Administration organised the programme with assistance of the Art gallery as part of its daylong programme celebrating the Independence Day. Dulal Chandra Gain, assistant keeper of the art gallery and Poritosh Chandra Majumder, assistant expert (Art and Craft) of National Academy of Primary Education (NAPE) were judges at the competition. A total of 11 students received awards in three groups. Deputy Commissioner of Mymensingh Md. Shamsul Alam handed over prizes among the winners at the Zila Parishad auditorium. Mymensingh district administration also chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the day. Programmes were also held at all upazila headquarters marking the occasion.
