Elliott moving to Wales

Former Australian opening batsman Matthew Elliott has accepted an offer to play for Glamorgan for the first four weeks of the forthcoming season.

Elliott had been originally due to play for Yorkshire until mid-May but Pakistan's World Cup elimination means Younis Khan is there from the start.

Elliott was prevented from playing a third season at Glamorgan in 2006 because of a knee injury.

He will be the fill-in for fellow Australian left-hander Jimmy Maher.

Elliott said: "People know of my affections for Glamorgan and for Wales, and I'm really looking forward to linking up with the players and getting the season off to a positive start for when Jimmy arrives."

Elliott, Australia's one-day player of the season in 2006-07, is expected to be available for the first three County Championship matches and three one-day matches too.
