Watson out for three weeks

World Cup holders Australia will be without all-rounder Shane Watson for at least three weeks.

Watson suffered a calf muscle tear in the match against Bangladesh and he had to leave the field during play.

It means he will not be available until the World Cup semifinals, which are being held on 24 and 25 April.

"I want to review it later in the week. It all depends on how quickly he's improving," said Australia physiotherapist Alex Kontouris.

"If he is feeling great by the end of the week, the prognosis is very good.

"If it's not, it's probably going to take a lot longer to recover.

"You would probably want him to be as close to 100% as possible for him to come back -- because you wouldn't want it to re-occur," Kontouris added.

The injury is the latest setback for 25-year-old Watson, who missed the winter Ashes series because of a hamstring injury.

Australia's next match is against England on Sunday and there is no like for like replacement in the squad.

The options for the selectors would be to play Brad Hodge as an extra batsman, or supplement the seam bowling attack with either Mitchell Johnson or Stuart Clark.

"Losing an all-rounder out of your side does change things around quite a bit.

"If he is going to miss the next game we will have to really think about what the best line-up is going to be.

"He's been playing as our fourth quick, [and] happens to be pretty handy with the bat," said Ponting.

The match against England offers Australia a chance to avenge their 2-0 defeat in the Common-wealth Bank series final.
