Sabbir Haider of Ruposi Bangla was arrested from his house at Mohammadpur on Monday night in connection with a cheating case.

Co-director of the TV channel Dr M Haider Ali filed a case with Pallabi Police Station on March 30 accusing Sabbir and his 28 associates of embezzling lakhs of taka from many people with a false promise that they would be made directors of the channel.

The government has recently banned the TV channel for not.

Mohammadpur police arrested Sabbir from his Sher-e-Bangla Road house and later handed him over to Pallabi police.

He was produced before the court with a petition for five-day remand, but the court granted only one-day remand.
