Freedom of press
A reader, On e-mail
We have read in The Daily Star the most significant judgment of the year, as I consider it, on a defamation suit against a newspaper. Two very vital issues have been dealt with in this judgment, one is regarding freedom of press and the other is " judiciary is not above criticism" provided there are genuine grounds for the media to speak out. As a reader and listener of media reports, I feel very relieved that we are going to see qualitative and objective reporting of national events by our valued journalists without fear or favour. Thanks to the High Court Bench for such an important judgment keeping in mind the people's constitutional right to freedom of information.
