Two outlaws get 3 years' RI in extortion case

Two armed cadres of outlawed PBCP (Janajuddho) have been sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment and fined Tk 5,000 each in an extortion case.

They are Mamun-ar-Rashid and Ali Akbar.

First class metropolitan magistrate Md Atiqul Haque delivered the judgement in presence of the accused yesterday.

The prosecution story in brief is that the outlaws demanded Tk 50,000 from Ferdaus Ahmed, proprietor of Tripty Enterprise, of Natun Bazar in Khulna city on February 4.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) caught them red handed while they were receiving Tk 10,000 from Ferdaus in the afternoon the same day.

A case was filed with Khulna Sadar Police Station on the night of February 5 under Speedy Trial Act accusing the two outlaws.
