18 army men injured in road accident

At least 18 army personnel were injured, six of them seriously, in a road accident in Laldighi areas on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway yesterday.The seriously injured army men are Sergeant Shahadat, Corporal Anwar, Corporal Abdul Hannan, Lance Corporal Jubayer and soldiers Rashid and Alamgir. They were first admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) and then shifted to Dhaka CMH by a military helicopter. The remaining 12 are undergoing treatment at the RMCH. The accident occurred when a Chapainwabganj-bound army truck carrying 26 troops from Bogra Cantonment skidded off the highway and fell into a ditch at around 11:30am. Locals and army members from Rajshahi Cantonment rescued the victims and sent them to the RMCH.
