Star reporter acquitted in fertiliser dealer's case

A Nilphamari court yesterday acquitted EAM Asaduzzaman Tipu, Nilphamari correspondent of The Daily Star, of a case filed by a local fertiliser dealer.

The Nilphamari Speedy Trial Court of first class Magistrate Enamul Haq also dismissed the case as the court found the complaints against the reporter false and baseless.

Tipu was arrested on March 21 after Biswajit Bhoumik Bapi, general secretary of Nilphamari unit of Bangladesh Fertiliser Association, lodged the case, accusing him of making 'unfair demands'.
