The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Reaz Mahmud, 28, Ripon Kumar, 29, Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, 28, Mohammad Mosharraf, 30 and Mohammad Hasan, 28, of the district.

On information, a squad of Rab7, Chittagong went to Mainamati Residential Hotel in guise of arms buyers at around 7:30am.

Reaz met the Rab members in disguise and brought two revolvers as per their commitment. The members of the elite force then said that they were interested in buying more arms.

At that moment Reaz called her cohorts to rush to the hotel with other arms.

When they reached the hotel, Rab forces caught them red-handed and recovered a three not three rifle, a revolver, a foreign single-barrel gun and six rounds of cartridges of revolver and short-gun searching their bodies, said a Rab press release yesterday.
