The arrestee was identified as Saiful Islam, son of BNP leader and Khagrachhari Municipality Commissioner Mohammad Anwar Hossain, also an armed cadre of arrested former lawmaker Wadud Bhuiyan.

Acting on a tip off, a team of Sadar Police Station led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Helal Uddin raided the house at 7:30am and arrested him.

Police said he is accused in more than six cases. The cases include collecting ransom, giving life threats to local journalists, looting others properties and filing false cases.
