12 doped and robbed

At least 12 people, including a Saudi expatriate, were robbed after being drugged in the capital yesterday.All the victims were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment. Saudi expatriate Muhammad Liton, 27, was found unconscious on a road in Jatrabari yesterday morning. Locals informed his uncle after finding a phone number in his picket. His uncle identified him and rushed him to DMCH. Liton's family sources said he returned from Saudi Arabia recently after three years. He had cash and valuables with him which all went missing. Sirajul Islam, 50, a CNG autorickshaw driver, was found unconscious in front of DMCH. He was admitted there for treatment. His autorickshaw went missing. Johura Khatun, Sirajul's wife, told The Daily Star that Sirajul went out of his Maniknagar home around 9:00am yesterday. She came to DMCH after she was informed about Sirajul's condition by the hospital authorities. Meanwhile, Shohag, 22, from Nazimuddin Road, Alamgir, 22, from Gabtoli, Alamgir, 28, from Abdullahpur, Salim 20, Shaheen, 32, Alamin, 18, and four other unidentified victims of robbery by drugging were sent to DMCH by locals or police from different parts of the city yesterday. Doctors at DMCH said all of them were drugged.
