Depression over Bay

The well-marked low over east central Bay and its adjoining areas moved slightly north-northeastwards and intensified into a depression yesterday morning.The depression was centred about 755-km south-southeast of Chittagong port, 660-km south-southeast of Cox's Bazar port and 825-km southeast of Mongla port at 6:00am. A Met office bulletin said it is likely to intensify further and move in a north/northwesterly direction. Under its influence, squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports. Maximum sustained wind speed within 44-km of the depression centre is about 40 KPH rising to 50 KPH in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain moderate. Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three. All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to keep close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
