DU finds 24 more cases of forged admission

The Dhaka University (DU) yesterday identified 24 more forgery cases in admission to the Faculty of Social Sciences, pushing the number to 76.

A probe committee yesterday submitted the list of 24 fake students before the syndicate.

"Investigation is on against 13 to 14 more students," said Pro-vice-chancellor Prof AFM Yusuf Haider after the meeting.

He said all the 24 admissions were in 2004-2005 session. Of those, 22 admissions were in the Department of Public Administration and one each in the Institute of Social Welfare and Department of International Relations.

On March 15, the committee submitted an interim report that found 30 fake admission cases in public administration, economics and international relations departments in various sessions. The committee, on April 9, had found 52 cases of admission forgery at the same faculty.

Following the interim report, deans of all faculties and directors of institutions were directed to check papers of students' admission.

The next meeting of the probe committee will be held on May 22.
