First win for Tangail
Sports Reporter
Tangail bounced back from a humiliating 8-0 opening round defeat to BKSP when they blanked Gaibandha 3-0 in the final round of the Western Union National Youth Football Championship here yesterday.Mehdi put Tangail ahead after nine minutes with a 30-yard strike at the Satkhira Stadium while Awal and Ripon added the rest late in the second half to hand Gaibandha their first loss in the finals. Hosts Satkhira's poor run continued as their second attempt to win a match went down the drains following a goalless draw with Narayanganj. Both teams came to the game after losing their respective openers and the home side fluffed easy chances. Jahirul wasted sitters either side of the break for Satkhira, who were reduced to ten men when Shahjalal was sent off in the 52nd minute. Narayanganj also came close but Sohel Rana failed to beat the rival keeper on a one-on-one situation.
