Overseas calls

It is encouraging news that the govt. has asked the relevant ministry & departments to expedite legalisation of VoIP by issuing licence to deserving firms. Prior to disbanding VoIP because of its illegality, general subscribers, not aware of its status, were able to talk to their relatives abroad costing about Tk. 5.50 per minute. Now they are compelled to call through EISD which costs them Tk. 8.62 per minute including VAT through land phone, But recently EISD facility has been extended to mobile phone also but the subscribers have to pay Tk .75 additional cell phone charge. More than 60% callers do not have T&T phone and the vast majority of our people, who have their kith & kin abroad, have to use cell phones. This indifference is sheer injustice to the biggest earners of foreign exchange for the country. It is hoped that the govt. will look into the matter.
