Foreign Affairs Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury yesterday said he received a report from the Bangladesh mission at Agartala, Tripura regarding arrests of two Bangladeshi politicians including a former lawmaker."I have received a report from the Bangladesh mission in Agartala just before coming to this conference about the arrests of two Bangladeshis," Iftekhar told the press conference at the Press Information Department. The two Jubo League leaders-- Chairman Jahangir Kabir Nanak and General Secretary Mirza Azam-- were reportedly detained at Sonamura in Agartala on Monday. The foreign adviser said the Bangladesh mission report contained all the reports appeared in Tripura's local dailies including their names. He said he has already informed the matter to the home ministry. Nazmul Quaunine, director general of the external publicity wing of the foreign ministry, told the newsmen that Bangladesh is yet to contact the Indian authorities. Meanwhile, the two Jubo League leaders in a statement yesterday said their arrest reports carried in different Bangladeshi media are totally false and fabricated. "We are in Bangladesh", they said adding a vested quarter is spreading false news in a bid to demoralise Jubo League leaders, activists, supporters and well-wishers.
