Milam sees govt working hard to make country more democratic

Visiting former US ambassador to Bangladesh William B Milam yesterday said the people now in the current caretaker government are working hard to make the country much more democratic.

Milam said this while talking to reporters after a meeting with Law Adviser Mainul Hosein in his office at the Ministry of Information.

The former US envoy also assured the caretaker government of all assistance to restore democracy in Bangladesh.

He said, "It was a very good discussion but I didn't discuss any specific issue as that's not my business. I would like to know how the new government is working and handling each thing."

Mainul Hosein told the reporters that the former US envoy appreciated the present government's efforts to restore democracy. "Milam was briefed about the complicated situation now prevailing in the country," he said.

The adviser said Milam assured the caretaker government of all assistance to restore democracy in the country.
