Making absolute its rule issued upon separate writ petitions, a division bench comprising Justice ABM Khairul Haque and Justice Syed M Ziaul Karim asked the government to release the two former ministers if they are not wanted in any other criminal cases.

On February 25, the joint forces arrested Mosharraf and Abbas on the premises of the Anti-Corruption Commission office soon after they submitted their wealth statements as asked by the commission.

Later, they were sent to jail with 30 days' detention under the Special Powers Act.

Barrister Rokanuddin Mahmud appeared for both Mosharraf and Abbas.
