BSF guns down cattle trader


Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle trader at Tarali village near Kakdanga border under Swarupnagar Police Station of 24 Parganas district early yesterday.

The dead was identified as Nazrul Islam, 35, son of Hamjar Ali of Kakdanga village in Kalaroa upazila.

According to a report received from across the border, Nazrul went to India on Tuesday and was returning home with cattle he bought from there.

When he reached the frontier Tarali village at around 4:30am, the BSF men opened fire on him. He died instantly.

Major Kamrul Hasan, operation commander of 41 Rifles Battalion, confirmed the incident.

BDR sources said they sent a letter to the BSF authorities protesting the killing and asked them to return the body.
