Budget's success depends on its implementation
CA tells admin officials


Chief Adviser (CA) Fakhruddin Ahmed yesterday asked the administration cadre officials to take necessary preparations for successful implementation of the national budget after its finalisation.

"Success of the budget depends on its implementation. Officials from the secretariat to field-level will have to properly perform their respective duties to implement the budget so that people can get its benefits," he said at the annual dinner of Bangladesh Administrative Service Association at BIAM auditorium in the city.

The CA also directed the officials to get prepared for implementing the Annual Development Programme (ADP) within the stipulated time.

Finance Adviser Mirza Azizul Islam announced the national budget for fiscal year 2007-08 on Thursday.

The CA said his government has taken steps for reforms in many sectors. "Now the opportunity has come for administrative and institutional reforms," he said, asking the officials to put in their best efforts to complete the jobs.

He urged the civil servants to carry out their duties keeping in mind that they are the employees of the republic and take judicious decisions applying their own conscience.

He also stressed the need for training for officials to develop their professional skills.

Cabinet Secretary Ali Imam Majumdar, President of Bangladesh Administrative Service Association Abu Md Maniruzzaman Khan and newly recruited administration cadre official Mia Ching also spoke.

Advisers to the caretaker government, secretaries, additional secretaries, joint secretaries, deputy commissioners and deputy secretaries along with their spouses attended the dinner.

Prior to joining the dinner, the chief adviser witnessed a colorful cultural function.
