Garment workers block road

Garment workers yesterday put up a barricade on the Dhaka-Tangail highway near Chandra Palli Biddyut office under Kaliakoir upazila of the district demanding arrear wages.The agitating workers of Aimon Garments blocked the highway at around 8:00am, halting traffic for about half an hour. Rab and police personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Officer in Charge (OC) of Kaliakoir Police Station Shahjahan Kabir said they sat with the representatives of the management in the morning. In the meeting, the management side agreed to pay the arrear wages of the garment workers on Wednesday. He further said the workers returned to the factory and resumed their duties.
