Chulu West Heroes Accorded Reception
Call to arrange training on mountaineering for school children

Bangla Mountaineering and Trekking Club (BMTC) President Enayet Ullah Khan has urged all school authorities to arrange training on mountaineering for children that, he said, would help build high confidence among them.

"Preparation for training on mountaineering should be taken in schools for their children," he said while presiding over a reception accorded to 'Chulu West Heroes' at the National Press Club in the city yesterday.

Led by Sajal Khaled, three other BMTC members MA Muhit, Noor Muhammad and Musa Ibrahim started trekking to Chulu West from Nadi in Annapurna Range in the Himalayas on May 4 and reached the peak on May 16 after 12 days of trekking and climbing.

Enayet Ullah Khan said mountaineering expeditions would help children to broaden and deepen their minds.

"One month's mountaineering is necessary for all children," he added.

Popular author Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Executive Director of Transcom Beverage Limited Golam Kuddus Chowdhury and founder of BMTC Enam Ul Haque also spoke on the occasion.

Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal congratulated the youths who hoisted the country's national flag atop the Chulu West peak to make it known all over the world.

Terming the conquering of the Chulu West a nightmarish achievement, he said trekking into 21059 feet height of the mountain was not an easy task as there is severe shortage of Oxygen at such level.

In his welcome address, BMTC Founder Enam Ul Haque said a lot of money and materials are needed to arrange such expeditions and urged greater number of sponsors for their upcoming big expedition in September.

He said, "If we get the right sponsors, we will start for 26000-foot 'Shisha Pangma' peak of the Himalayas in September."

The Himalayan expedition of the BMTC team was shown through a 5-minute video and 10-minute slide show at the function.

Bangla Mountaineering and Trekking Club (BMTC) has been organising trekking and mountaineering in the Himalayas since 2003.
