Notorious criminal held in Ctg


Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) during a raid at a residential hotel in the port city arrested a notorious criminal of the capital and seized foreign currencies and Phensidyl from him.

The arrestee Badrul Alam Labu, 32, is the son of late industrialist Alam of Sutrapur, Dhaka. Alam was killed in his Sutrapur house a few years ago.

Labu is accused in seven criminal cases including two arms cases filed with Halishahar Police Station of Chittagong and Cox's Bazar Police Station.

Sources said, on secret information a Rab-7 team raided Asian SR residential hotel on Station Road and held Labu early yesterday.

Rab personnel also recovered 500 Euros, some US dollars and Phensidyl from him.

He was handed over to Halishahar police yesterday evening.

Rab personnel also held another person identified as Kamrul Islam Shaheen yesterday for his alleged link with Labu. Shaheen was under interrogation as of filing of this report last night.
