Enhance acceptability
Mainul asks BTV

Information and Law Adviser Mainul Hosein yesterday said the acceptability of Bangladesh Television (BTV) would have to be enhanced by disclosing the truth to people.

The people should be informed of the truth and the statements of the deprived people at the grassroots level would have to be taken up, he said while exchanging views with BTV officials at Rampura Television Bhaban in the city, said an official handout.

Terming the television 'a powerful mass medium,' the adviser said uneducated common people can be educated on various issues through programmes of the BTV.

The people of the country would have to be made united through the BTV programmes and people of different opinions should be involved there, he said.

The adviser said mass awareness would have to be created through television, utilising merit, creativity and goodwill of the nation.

Referring to the news of BTV, he said news items should be circulated on the basis of their importance, not on protocol.

The adviser directed the BTV officials to uphold tribal cultures in their various programmes.

Referring to the creation of malice, differences and envy in the past, he said the caretaker government wants to set good examples everywhere.

Elections should be held not merely for the sake of election but to establish good governance, he added.

Earlier, the adviser went round different sections of the BTV. Information Secretary M Didarul Alam, BTV Director General M Wazed Ali Khan and senior officials of BTV were present, said the handout.
