Tunes of rain at TSC

Teachers and Students Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University, Dhaka University Alumni Association (DUAA) and Boishakhi Television jointly arranged a musical soiree titled "Neel Anjan Legechhe" at the TSC auditorium on June 12. At the programme renowned as well as upcoming artistes including Fatema Tuz Zohra, Ferdous Ara, Mahiuzzzaman Chowdhury, Aditi Mohsin, Fahim Hossain Chowdhury and Chhaya Karmakar rendered Rabindra and Nazrul Sangeet and other popular songs celebrating monsoon. The programme started with Mahiuzzaman Chowdhury rendering a Rabindra Sangeet Ashadh kotha hotey aaj and the familiar adhunik song popularised by Hemanta Mukhopadhyay, Ei meghla din-e ekla. Chhaya Karmakar sang Rabindra Sangeet Aji jhoro jhoro mukhoro badoro din-e, Megh bolechhe jabo jabo and Pagla hawar badol din-e. Fahim Hossain Chowdhury, cultural secretary of DUAA, sang Rabindra Sangeet Ami ki gaan gabo, Esho shyamolo sundoro and an adhunik song Tuntan tuntan churir taal-e. The only duet of the evening, Modhu gondhey bhora, was performed by Mahiuzzaman Chowdhury and Chhaya Karmakar. Aditi Mohsin rendered Rabindra Sangeet -- Badolo diner prothomo kodom phool, Shawano gagan-e ghor ghanaghata and Megher porey megh jomechhe. Ferdous Ara renderd Nazrul Sangeet -- Shawono ashilo phirey, Shawono raat-e jodi and adhunik songs -- Janalaye jhoro jhoro, Ek boroshaye brishtitey. Last artiste to perform that evening, Fatema Tuz Zohra sang Rimjhim jhim rimjhim, Tiptip tuptap brishti, Ek-khana megh bheshe elo akash-e and the popular folk song Ei na ashadh mash-e. Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr. SMA Faiz greeted the singers with flowers at the end of the programme. Dr. Sadrul Amin, Dean of Faculty of Arts, Dhaka University; Manzur-e-Elahi, president of DUAA; Rakib Uddin Ahmed, general secretary of DUAA and Hasina Ahmed, programme coordinator of Boishakhi Television were also present at the programme. Boishakhi Television aired the musical soiree live from TSC.
