The arrestees were identified as Bolash Tripura alias Biplob Tripura, 22 and Yakub Ali alias Huzur Yakub, 45.

Police sources said, acting on a tip-off, joint forces raided the residence of one Shaktipad Tripura, a terrorist leader, at Khagrapur in Khagrachhari Sadar at around 4:00am and arrested Bolash.

They also recovered a pistol, two rounds of bullets, more than 2000 Indian rupees, a passport from his possession, sources said.

He confessed that he was involved in terrorist activities, including collecting ransom.

But he was only carrying out the orders of Shaktipad Tripura, security sources said.

While contacted, family members of Shaktipad Tripura refused to give further information.

Meanwhile, joint forces arrested Yakub and seized 9 kg ganja from his possession at Master Para in Khagrachhari Sadar.

Acting on a tip-off, the joint forces raided his Master Para house at 10:00am and arrested him with the ganja.

Locals said Yakub Huzur and his wife Safura Begum had been involved in ganja trafficking since long and demanded their exemplary punishment.

Both Bolash and Yakub were handed over to Sadar Police Station.
