MJF, embassy of Norway sign agreement
The Embassy of Norway in Bangladesh and Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) signed a three-year agreement to help establish human rights and good governance in Bangladesh on Wednesday, says a press release.Norwegian Ambassador in Bangladesh Ingebjørg Støfring said Norway has been searching for innovative ways to channel its support for human rights and good governance in Bangladesh. "Using MJF as a vehicle will ensure that the money is wisely and efficiently spent and reaches more beneficiaries as MJF has the capacity to maintain and monitor a larger and more diversified project portfolio than the embassy," said the ambassador. Shaheen Anam, executive director of MJF, said "This support will strengthen Manusher Jonno's position as one of the leading organisations in the country promoting human rights and governance work and enable us to support the activities of more NGOs on different issues." The $6 million agreement was signed by Board Member of MJF Rokia Afzal Rahman and Embassy Counsellor Hans Peter Melby.
