Dr Ashraf sent his resignation letter to Bangabhaban by his official staff at noon, officials said.

Later, he came to the PSC office and said farewell to his colleagues.

Mahfuzur Rahman, another member of the PSC, who was accused of massive corruption, had also resigned earlier after his name appeared on the list of corruption suspects published on March 8.

As part of the ongoing reforms under the present caretaker government, the PSC chairperson was replaced with former cabinet secretary Dr Sadat Hossain.
