Criminals raid hotel, shoot 2 employees

Two hotel employees were shot by a gang of criminals at Topkhana Road in the city yesterday.

The bullet-hit, Abdul Motaleb, 40, and Mohammad Babul, 35, were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Witnesses said a gang of two stormed into the cash counter on the first floor of Hotel Tourist Abashik at around 8:00am and opened fire, leaving the two injured.

The criminals fired around 10 bullets and left the scene hurriedly, they added.

Hearing gunshots, other staff of the hotel ran to the spot and took Motaleb and Babul to the DMCH.

"As we were climbing up the staircase hurriedly, the criminals pulled out firearms fastened at their waists and started firing indiscriminately," Abdul Motaleb told reporters at the DMCH.

Police could not arrest any of the gang as of filing the report in the evening.
