Bangladeshi expatriates in Nagoya, Japan are holding a month-long indoor games tournament.

Nagoyabashi, a social organisation of expatriate Bangladeshis living in Nagoya, is organising the tournament.

Every year the organisation arranges several programmes to celebrate different Bangladeshi cultural and religious festivals.

Mohammad Ullah inaugurated the tournament on May 27 in Nagoya. Over 50 Bangladeshis are taking part in different events including badminton, chess, table tennis, cards, carom and some traditional events like ludo.

Several hundred Bangladeshis from other Japanese cities as well are enjoying the tournament as they have showed up in large numbers.

Dr Ferdous Hasan, Dr AFM Azam, Dr Shamsad Begum and Golam Faruque are working to make the event a success.

At the inauguration ceremony, Khorshed Alam, Dr Monirul Islam, Dr Zahidul Islam, Dr Reza, Dr Muzahidul Islam, Dr Aminul Shaheen, among others, were present.

DIVISIONAL KARATE
Salahuddin Bhuiyan won two gold medals while Lokman Masud, Mainul Hossain and Saiful Islam won one each in the Barisal leg of Samsung 2nd Divisional Karate competition in Barisal yesterday.

Barisal's Salahuddin won in the under-70kg and under-75kg events of the competition. Lokman of Patuakhali won in the singles event, Mainul of Barisal came first in the under-55kg event while Saiful of Jhalakathi won gold in the under-60 event.

Around 100 participants took part in the tournament.
