Ushering in monsoon with music and dance


Tapur Tupur Entertainment arranged a cultural programme titled "Barsha Mangal 1414" at Natmandal, Dhaka University on June 15. The programme featured dance, music and recitation celebrating the rainy season. Noted singers Ferdous Ara and Mahiuzzaman Chowdhury; dancers Sohel and Riya; recitors Mahidul Islam and Rupa Chakrabarty along with other artistes performed at the programme.

The event started with a group dance accompanied with the popular Tagore song Pagla hawar badol din-e followed by a dance by Sohel and Riya with the song Brishti porey tapur tupur.

Rupa Chakrabarty recited two poems by Tagore -- Bristi Porey Tapur Tupur and Ashadh. That was followed by a duet recitation of Tomakey bhalobeshey, by Rupa and Mahidul Islam. The latter also recited Tagore's Ekti din and Shakti Chattopadhyay's Anando Bhairabi.

Singer Mahiuzzaman Chowdhury performed Tagore songs including, Abar eshechhey ashadh, Badolo diner prothom kodom phool and Mon mor megher shongi.

Ferdous Ara was the last performer of the evening. The artiste rendered Nazrul and modern songs including Barasha ritu elo elo, Shaoano raat-e jodi and Ek boroshar brishti-te bhijey, a song made popular by late Nilufar Yasmin.

Saiful Bari, chief adviser of ATN Bangla was the chief guest at the programme. Acclaimed filmmaker Tareque Masud was the special guest at the event.
