Court sources said Rebeka Begum, a resident of Chenguria in Kalapara municipality filed the case (no. CP-259/2007) with Kalapara upazila magistrate court yesterday Sunday against Officer-in-Charge Abdul Khalek, Sub-inspector A K Azad, Constable Nurul Alam and her husband Ruhul Amin.

The complainant alleged that she lodged a case against her husband Ruhul Amin as he allegedly tortured her for dowry. The case was filed under the Women and Children repression Prevention Act

The OC and other cops went to her house on May 15 and demanded Tk 15,000 as bribe and dropping her husband's name from the case.

As Rebeka declined, she was manhandled, arrested and sent to jail under Section 54.

Rebeka was released from jail on June 3. She lodged the case on Sunday under sections 109,161, 420,447, 500, 506 of Penal Code.

When contacted, OC Abdul Khalek claimed that the case was false and she was arrested under Section 290 for allegedly misappropriating Tk 16 lakh from her husband.
