"Gang of thieves"

An editorial in a local daily on the affairs of the power sector published on June 5 hits the nail on the head! Not only the ex PM's son, rightly pointed out by the former state minister of power in BNP heydays; but many officials of the ministry, PDB, Desa and Desco had a finger in the luscious pie! These "gang of thieves" are the real culprits who, as reported by the former state minister then, may have stolen at least Tk 6,000 crore from the power sector!

The CTG appears to be sitting over this, the largest corruption venture, which is the worst and far in excess of what any corrupt businessmen had done. Not only have they deprived a vital service sector, and taken it down the drain; they have been responsible for many deaths and injuries to innocent people, rightly protesting against the horrifying state of affairs in the power sector.

The CTG must identify and punish the perpetrators of the heinous crimes against the country. This action brooks no delay!

May be I am wrong, but it appears that the CTG is not going for speedy action against the perpetrates of this massive criminal act. No wonder, meter readers have large houses and apartments; and their children study abroad-- a matter which was reported much earlier.

This is not figment of the imagination, but a duly reported fact in our national press. I am sure if needed the fact can be verified. Will these criminals be unearthed, or like the proverbial saying; we will "let sleeping dogs lie" and take the view of "not upsetting the applecart?" Or is there something more in it? This is the quandary-- will the CTG please speak out?
