Bangladeshi doctors in trouble
Dr. Sarah Rafat Hossain, On e-mail
I'm Dr. Sarah, writing from Riyadh, KSA. I and my husband, who is also a doctor, have been working for the last 18 months in a private clinic in Riyadh. We both are aware of the ongoing drive against corruption in Bangladesh, which is very much appreciable. But is there anything our government can do to protect their people who are working abroad from any kind of harassment? We have been suffering for the last two months. As there were many unlawful things going on in our clinic, we decided not to continue here anymore. But as soon as we submitted our resignation letter they took our passports, residence permits & our original certificates & forced to do our job without any salary. So we went to the embassy for help. But what they did was giving a bunch of advice. We even went to the governor office of Riyadh & complained there, from which our case has been transferred to the local police station. The police station has given summon to the clinic's management but they didn't bother to attend. So we have tried our best to solve this problem. But nothing seems to work out. At the moment it seems our country cannot help us when we are harassed abroad. We appeal to the CTG to look into the matter and save us from the hands of our employers. Please extend a helping hand to us!
