5 new sport fed bosses

The Youth and Sports Ministry yesterday appointed new presidents of five sport federations.Establishment secretary Abdus Salam Khan has been named president of Bangladesh Chess Federation, one of the most active federations in the country. The other new federation chiefs are Labour and Employment secretary Mohammed Ashfaq Hamid (wrestling), Post and Telecommunication acting secretary Sheikh Khurshid Alam (carom), DG of DGFI Maj Gen Golam Mohammed (judo) and GOC of Ninth Infantry Division Maj Gen Mohammed Ashab Uddin (shooting). Earlier, the government relieved Bangladesh Chess Federation president M Rafiqul Islam, Judo Federation boss Maj Gen M Akbar Akter and National Shooting Federation chief M Lutfar Rahman Talukder following their retirement. Jafar Ahmed Chowdhury and ABM Abdul Haque Chowdhury, ex-presidents of wrestling and carom federations respectively, quit their posts.
