2 murdered in city

Two people including a housewife were killed in the city on Monday night.A husband allegedly killed his wife at their DOHS residence in Dhaka Cantonment. The dead was identified as Sultana Yasmin alias Moni, 35, wife of a businessman Obaidur Rahman Shyamol. Police recovered the body from Apollo Hospitals and sent it to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) morgue for autopsy. Victim's son Munkir Naim Sunny told the reporters at DMC that an altercation broke out between his parents on Monday night and at one stage Shyamol choked Moni rendering her unconscious. When she was rushed to Apollo Hospitals, the on-duty doctors declared her dead. Rafiqul Islam, brother of Moni, filed a murder case against Shyamol with the Cantonment Police Station. Police said Shyamol went into hiding after the incident. Meanwhile, an octogenarian man succumbed to his injuries in a Dhanmondi clinic in the early hours of yesterday. The dead was identified as Fakir Chan, 80, a resident of Dhupkhola Road in Sutrapur. Fakir Chan fell unconscious when the wife and mother-in-law of his tenant Habib beat him by grabbing his neck following an argument over the missing of Tk 500 from the house at 9:30pm. Habib owned the money. Fakir Chan was admitted to the clinic where he died at 2:00am. A murder case was filed with Sutrapur Police Station accusing Nazma and her mother. Police could not arrest the accused.
