'Withdraw ban on Hasina's US visit'

As many as two thousand women in a statement yesterday urged the caretaker government to withdraw ban on Awami League President Sheikh Hasina's going to the United States.They said the women folk of the country are deeply shocked as the government stood in her way while she was set to see her pregnant daughter in USA. A ban on her going abroad goes against the spirit of women's rights, they said, adding that such order corrodes democratic values. The signatories to the statement included Manzila Farook, Nazma Ahmed and Baby Mahua.
