'Include biography of Sufia Kamal in textbooks'


Speaker at a discussion yesterday demanded inclusion of the biography of late Poet Sufia Kamal, a pioneer of all progressive movements, in textbooks.

They said this is the high time for proper evaluation of the life and works of the poet who gave a new dimension to the struggles of the countrymen.

The discussion was organised by Steps Towards Development at its auditorium in the city on the occasion of the 96th birth anniversary of Sufia Kamal.

The speakers said she always served as the conscience of the nation during crucial moments and she dreamed of a secular progressive society.

They said the poet was the source of courage and inspiration for all.

Shamsuzzaman Khan, Shyamoli Nasrin Chowdhury and Nasimun Ara Huq Minu took part in the discussion. says a press release.

Presided over by women leader Bela Nabi, the discussion was moderated by Steps Director Rekha Saha.
