One gets 17 years' RI in arms case

A court here yesterday sentenced a man to 17 years' rigorous imprisonment in an arms case. Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Shamsul Huda also fined the convict, Nesar Ahmed, Tk 5000. If he fails to pay, he will have to suffer another two years in jail. According to the prosecution, Nesar was arrested from Sandwip Hotel in city's Nalapara area with three AK-47 rifles and 40 rounds of bullets on August 30, 1998. Police submitted charge sheet on April 20, 1999 accusing four persons, including Nesar.
