Education ministry has rescheduled the school timings of the institutions at primary and secondary level with a view to relieve the students of the suffering caused by erratic electricity supply.According to the new schedule, classes of the institutions that have only one shift will be held from 8:00am to 2:00pm during March to August in lieu of 10:00am to 4:00pm, a press release of the education ministry said yesterday. However, during September to February, classes will be held from 10:00am to 4:00pm, the release added. But, the timings will remain unchanged at the institutions that have double shifts. Classes of the morning shift will be held from 7:00am-12:00noon while classes of the day shift will start at 12:15pm and end at 5:25pm. All teachers, employees and students have been asked to follow the new schedule and all deputy directors in regional levels and district education officers have been asked to monitor the educational institutes for ensuring implementation of the new schedule. Education ministry sources said the decision regarding the new schedule was taken at a meeting chaired by Education Secretary M Mamtazul Islam at the secretariat on June 12 where chairmen of all education boards and director generals of education directorate were present.
