CA greets Brown

Chief Adviser (CA) Fakhruddin Ahmed has congratulated Gordon Brown on his assumption of office of the prime minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.In a message of felicitation yesterday, the CA said, "Your unanimous selection as the leader of the Labour Party and to the highest office of her majesty's government is a testimony to the trust of the people of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland in your able leadership." He expressed his confidence that Bangladesh would find a close friend in the new British leader. The head of the caretaker government termed bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the UK excellent, saying that it has been expanded over the years in many areas, including trade, investment and culture. He hoped that the existing friendly relations between the two countries would be further strengthened during his tenure as British premier. "I look forward to closely working with you on issues of our mutual interest," the chief adviser said.
