Give priority to national interest for corruption-free motherland
Navy Chief tells newly commissioned officers
Summer Graduation President Parade marking the commissioning of Midshipmen 2005 'B' batch of Bangladesh Navy was held at the Bangladesh Naval Academy parade ground in Chittagong on Wednesday, says an ISPR release.

Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Sarwar Jahan Nizam attended the ceremony as the chief guest. He reviewed the smartly turned-out parade and took salute at the impressive march past.

He also gave away certificates and trophy among the Midshipmen who came out with excellent performance and results during the training. A total of 12 Midshipmen have been commissioned this time.

M Maksudur Rahman was adjudged the best all-round Midshipman of the course and awarded the 'Sword of Honour'. He also received 'CNS Gold Medal' for the best results in professional subjects while Midshipman M Rasel Howlader won the 'Osmani Gold Medal' for his outstanding performance in academic subjects.

Addressing the newly commissioned officers, Vice Admiral Sarwar Jahan Nizam said, "We achieved our independence 36 years back in lieu of lakhs of sacrificing souls. We achieved our deserved independence by dint of gallantry, devoted and sacrificing deed of each and every member of Army, Navy and Air Force who took part along with common mass in the liberation war. Now the noble responsibility to uphold the sovereignty of your motherland is vested upon you. I hope you will succeed in every field of life by bearing in mind the spirit of the liberation war, patriotism, loyalty, honesty and devotion to duties."

He also advised the newly commissioned officers to give priority to national interest rather than individual interest in order to present a clean, beautiful and corruption-free motherland to the future generation.

He also added that extensive survey research at sea should be continued to help the ongoing extraction of sea resources in the Bay of Bengal and every member of the Navy should always remain alert to protect the vast sea areas.

Commodore Commanding Chittagong Commodore M Mostafizur Rahman, diplomats of foreign missions, high civil and military officials and parents and guardians of the Midshipmen and Cadets were present on the occasion.
