Home ministry to finalise citizens' charter


A coordination meeting of the home ministry yesterday decided to finalise the citizens' charter aiming at providing quick service to the people.

What types of services people can get quickly from police, Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), Ansar, directorate of prisons, directorate of fire service and civil defence, department of passport and coastguard will be described in the charter.

The citizens' charter will be attached to places at directorate or other offices so that people can easily notice it.

The meeting held at the ministry also decided to form an audit cell in the ministry to dispose of audit objections and aiming at bringing more accountability and transparency in government expenditure. A deputy secretary of the ministry will be in charge of the cell.

Besides, the meeting requested the heads of different departments to take necessary steps for quick disposal of pension cases pending with the departments.

To bring more dynamism in the ministry's activities, the meeting directed the officials and employees to strictly follow the ministry's instructions to release files.

Chaired by Home Secretary Abdul Karim, the meeting was also attended by top officials of the ministry and director general the fire service and civil defence and inspector general (prisons).
