Sarbahara Party man held in city


Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested a Sarbahara Party man wanted in police post looting and three murder cases in the city's Shanir Akhra area on Wednesday night, Rab officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team Rab-3 raided Shanir Akhra area at around 10:30pm and arrested Rashed Khan alias Rashed Member of Shibchar upazila in Madaripur with a foreign pistol and four bullets, they added.

The elite force brought him to Rab-3 office and interrogated him extensively. During interrogation, Rashed said he is an accused in a case filed with Shibchar Police Station in Madaripur in 2000 for looting Dattapara police post.

He said he is also wanted in three murder cases filed with the same police station.

He has been hiding in the city for quite a long time to evade arrest, said a Rab official.

The Rab also arrested five members of a gang-led by Uzzal, vice-president of Siddheswari College Students' Union, from Maghbazar and Siddheswari areas in the city and seized two 9mm pistols, two bullets and two magazines.

Other arrestees are Luthfor Rahman Alias Sagar, Mohammad Mohsin, Delwar, Mohammad Biplob and Sumon alias Hathkata Sumon.
