Our correspondent from Brahmanbaria reports: Three people were killed in separate road accidents on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Bariura and Chartala villages under Sarail and Ashuganj upazilas in the district yesterday.

The dead were identified as Masuda Begum, 55, and her daughter Lutfa Begum, 20, of Bariura village under Sarail upazila and one unidentified girl aged about 9 of Chartala village under Ashuganj upazila.

A speeding truck knocked Masuda and her daughter Lutfa from behind when they were crossing the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, leaving them dead on the spot.

The bodies were sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital for autopsies.

The driver and helper along with their truck managed to escape.

Meanwhile, a speeding Sylhet- bound car hit an unidentified girl from behind near Ashuganj Police Station on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Chartala village while the girl was crossing the road, leaving her dead on the spot.

The body was sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital for autopsies.

The driver along with his car managed to escape.

A correspondent from Jhenidah says: A minor boy was crushed under the wheels of a bus at around 4:00pm here yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Aman Uddin, 7, son of Eazuddin of Saganna village under Jhenidah Sadar upazila.

Local people said a Jhenidah-bound passenger bus from Harinakunda ran over Aman while he was crossing the road near Amer Chara Bagan, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police reached the spot and sent the body to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Our correspondent from Manikganj adds: One person was killed and five others were injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Manikganj yesterday.

The identity of the dead aged about 32 could not be known immediately.

Police said the accident occurred at around 4:30am at Tepra under Shivalaya Police Station when a Dhaka-bound pick-up van fell into a roadside ditch when its driver lost his control over the steering.

The injured were admitted to Uthuly Health Complex.

The body was sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

A case has been lodged with Shivalaya Police Station.
