Handover of KNM properties to BSCIC postponed

Movable and immovable properties of Khulna Newsprint Mills (KNM) could not be handed over to Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) yesterday due to objection from the managing director of the mills.

The handover ceremony was scheduled to take place yesterday as per the decision of a meeting held in the Ministry of Industries on May 6.

The handover ceremony and signing of an agreement in this regard were postponed as the KNM managing director raised the objection saying that he is yet to get an official letter from the chairman of the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC).

Besides, lists of movable and immovable properties are still under preparation, the managing director told the two teams of BSCIC and BCIC.

The two five-member teams of BSCIC and BCIC then postponed the handover ceremony until July 29.

The time was extended after discussion with members of both the teams in presence of Joint Secretary to Ministry of Industries Md Zafarullah at the KNM Rest House yesterday.
