Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy honours seven artistes

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy honoured seven artistes on June 28, for their contribution to the fields of music and dance. Each artiste received a crest and BDT 10,000. Organised by the Department of Music and Dance of the academy, the award giving ceremony was held at the National Music and Dance Centre Auditorium. The recipients of the awards are: Syed Zakir Hossain (classical music), Md. Shamsul Haq (instrumental music), Md. Golam Mostafa Khan (dance), MA Mannan (Nazrul songs), Md. Ali Siddiqui (adhunik songs), Nadira Begum (folk songs) and Iffat Ara Dewan (Tagore songs). A.B.M Abdul Howk Chowdhury, secretary to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs was present as the chief guest. Samar Pal, director general of National Museum, was the special guest. The event was presided over by Quamrul Hassan ndc, director general of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Sunil Chandra Das, director of the Department of Music and Dance, delivered the welcome speech. The event ended with a musical soiree by the artistes of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
