Lyon dismiss rumours

French champions Lyon scoffed at suggestions Tuesday that Czech striker Milan Baros will be heading for the exit door. Baros, who only joined the club in the January transfer window, limped out of a pre-season training camp on Tuesday. That injury has heightened the need for Lyon to recruit attacking options with Brazilian forward Fred injured at the Copa America and in danger of missing the start of the coming season. He is out for at least a month after fracturing a bone in his foot. "If it proves to take longer than that we are thinking about signing someone, preferably a young player with the quality to be our fourth central striker," coach Alain Perrin said. Meanwhile, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed Tuesday that the club is in negotiations with Inter Milan left-back Fabio Grosso, seen as a replacement for Barcelona bound Eric Abidal. "We've made contact with Grosso. He wants to come," said Aulas. Grosso was part of the Italian squad that beat France in the World Cup final in Germany last year. Negotiations with Paris St Germain for another left back Sylvain Armand, have died, though, after PSG president Alain Cayzac claimed that the player will stay in the French capital.
